What is AILET..?
The All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Law University, Delhi, for admission to its various undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. programs. It assesses candidates on subjects like English, General Knowledge, Legal Aptitude, Reasoning, and Elementary Mathematics (for some courses). AILET: Admission & Eligibility
Eligibility for AILET:
- For BA LLB (Hons.): For the undergraduate program, candidates should have passed the Senior Secondary School Examination (10+2 system) or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks. Students appearing for the 12th standard exam can also apply.
- For LLM: For the postgraduate program, applicants should have an LL.B. or an equivalent law degree with at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories).
- Age Limit: There’s no upper age limit for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
Admission Process:
- Registration: Candidates need to apply online through the official website of NLU Delhi and complete the registration process by filling out the application form.
- Admit Card: After successful registration, candidates can download the admit card from the official website before the exam.
- AILET Exam: The AILET exam typically includes sections on English, General Knowledge, Basic Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Legal Aptitude.
- Result and Counseling: Based on the performance in the AILET exam, candidates are shortlisted for counseling. The counseling process involves seat allocation, document verification, and payment of fees.

AILET: Documents list
- Admit Card: The AILET admit card is a mandatory document to be carried to the exam center.
- Photo ID Proof: Any government-issued photo identification such as Aadhar Card, Passport, Voter ID, Driving License, etc., for verification purposes.
- Passport Size Photographs: Carry recent passport-size photographs as per the specifications mentioned in the information brochure.
- Mark Sheets and Certificates: Academic transcripts, mark sheets, and certificates of 10th, 12th (for undergraduate), and qualifying degree (for postgraduate) examinations.
- Category Certificate (if applicable): SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD category certificate issued by the competent authority, if applicable.
- Residential Certificate: Domicile or residential certificate (if required as per the admission criteria).
- Character Certificate: A certificate of good conduct or character issued by the school or college last attended.
- Transfer Certificate (TC): Transfer certificate from the institution last attended (if applicable).
- Income Certificate (if applicable): For candidates applying under economically weaker sections (EWS) or any other income-related category.
- NLU Delhi Application Form: Printed copy of the filled-in application form, including the acknowledgment slip.
- AILET Score Card: Printout of the AILET scorecard/result.
- Any Other Relevant Documents: Any other documents specified in the admission notification or counseling information released by the National Law University, Delhi.
AILET: Registration Process

AILET: Counseling Process
- Publication of Merit List: After the AILET exam results are announced, the National Law University (NLU), Delhi releases a merit list based on the candidates’ performance in the exam.
- Call for Counseling: Candidates who qualify for counseling are informed through the official website or individual notifications. They are required to participate in the counseling process as per the specified schedule.
- Document Verification: During counseling, candidates need to present their original documents for verification, including educational certificates, identity proof, AILET scorecard, category certificate (if applicable), etc.
- Seat Allotment: Based on the merit list and availability of seats, candidates are allotted seats in the undergraduate or postgraduate law programs offered by NLU Delhi. The seat allotment is generally done according to the candidate’s rank and preferences.
- Payment of Fees: Once a seat is allotted, candidates need to pay the prescribed admission fees within the stipulated time to confirm their admission. This may include tuition fees, security deposit, and other charges.
- Completion of Admission Formalities: After the payment of fees, candidates must complete all necessary admission formalities as instructed by the university. This may include submitting additional documents, filling out admission forms, and other requirements.
- Waitlist and Further Rounds (if applicable): In case some seats remain vacant after the initial rounds of counseling, a waitlist is prepared. Candidates on the waitlist may get a chance in subsequent rounds of counseling, if conducted.
